Do you struggle with managing your emotions? Feeling unsure how to navigate these emotional storms? When working with me, I will help you to build your skills and abilities to be able to anchor yourself in the midst of these emotional storms.

My areas of speciality include disordered eating, substance abuse disorder, anxiety and burnout. Using mainly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which teaches us to learn what is and what isn’t within our control and to use our values to guide our behaviour. The aim with ACT is to live a rich and meaningful life.

Rachel, a dedicated and experienced psychotherapist, runs Sturgeon Counselling with a belief in working with her clients to maintain and improve their mental health. Rachel believes in providing comprehensive mental health services to her clients in a friendly, relaxed, but professional atmosphere. She believes in educating her clients as she works with them to achieve holistic wellness in all aspects of their life.

Supervising budding therapists is growing to become a substantial part of my practice. Currently I supervise interns, qualifying psychotherapists and more seasoned therapists who see the value of supervision through their career. My initial focus as your supervisor will be to create a healthy working alliance with you, my supervisee, to create a strong foundation for our work together. As your supervisor, my aim is not only to help you to learn and grow within the profession but to ensure that I provide a safe learning environment within which you feel comfortable addressing not only your successes with clients but also the challenges, doubts and fears that you may experience.

A little more about me…
When I am not with clients or running the clinic, you can often find me enjoying a London Fog at a local coffee shop or taking in some terrible reality tv.

“Commitment isn’t about being perfect, always following through, or never going astray. Commitment means that when you (inevitably) stumble or get off track, you pick yourself up, find your bearings, and carry on in the direction you want to go.”
